The proposal is a good first step, but the roll out is too long. 2026 as the deadline for some of the key components? That's 5 years of plastic pollution build up. As well, the proposal lacks any mention of Styrofoam recycling and similar single use packaging. Only a few municipalities currently collect styrofoam and it's a big problem considering its widespread use in the packaging of electronics, food, etc. Without better deadlines and the inclusion of polluters like styrofoam, this proposal is much too weak to be effective at actually responding to pollution.
