Regarding the proposed application by Bartek Ingredients Inc. to have more flexibility on their current Environmental Compliance Approvals for air pollution, I would heavily advocate for the city to investigate the consequences of this application carefully. As a business owner, homeowner, and parent in the Stoney Creek area - which has seen a large influx of families with young children over the past five years - increasing flexibility on environmental pollutants is a step backwards for us. In fact, I heavily support the recommendations of the director of Environment Hamilton, Lynda Lukasik, for additional monitoring to be immediately deployed to see where the actual pollutants are at this present stage. The safety and health of our children and the children of our community depend on careful decisions on matters like these and perhaps sometimes saying no so that companies begin to think more creatively about eco friendly solutions for the future.
