Mission:data Coalition, a coalition of 30 technology companies across North America, promotes energy data portability to ensure that consumers have easy access to innovative new services that help manage utility bills, increase energy efficiency and cut carbon emissions.

We support Green Button Connect My Data (CMD), with the following important details:

1) CMD certification alone is insufficient. CMD implementations should also include account information, billing information, and information necessary for demand response aggregators.

2) The Ministry should promote centralized CMD implementations, particularly for small and medium local distribution companies (LDCs).

3) The Ministry should address important policy matters, such as third party eligibility criteria, terms of use, enforcement, and accountability of LDC operation of CMD.

4) User experience is critical to CMD's success.
