I am exposed to increased benzene emissions as a citizen in Hamilton. The MECP cumulative effects study shows a 100 times greater risk of developing cancer in some residential areas of Hamilton, compared with the rest of Ontario (and most of Canada). I am asking you to update the action plan regarding making the levels for Benzene not only more stringent but to show continuous improvement over the 2.5 year extension time frame.
I would like to see another reduction for the period of Jan 2021 to Jun 2023. It’s been 5 years that the level of this contaminant was brought down to 10 ug/m3 from 11.1 ug/m3, it’s time to take another step to get closer to the 0.45 ug/m3 goal of Reg. 419 limit.
Also when inquiring about the supporting documents to your contact email I have not received anything back. This in my view violates the transparency and information sharing with the general public or any interested party.
I am thus asking to void this commenting period and re-post it with at the same time providing all supporting documents to anyone asking for them.
