I am delighted that the government is considering expanding the Greenbelt. As human beings, we are part of nature, not separate from it. Everyone in Ontario should have access to green space CLOSE to where they live - by that, I don't mean just small parks but large protected areas of woodland and water that offer clean air, place to roam around and views that refresh body, mind and spirit. Have you ever gone for a drive through the countryside, hiked a forest trail or paddled on a quiet river or lake? The healing qualities of these sacred spaces are profound. We have to protect these national treasures from the pressures of development and urbanization...not just for ourselves but for generations to come.
