Please remove Schedule 3…

Please remove Schedule 3 from Bill 257.

Retroactive legislation to legalize unlawful actions undermines the public’s capacity to believe in the rule of law and is unbecoming of Ontario’s democratic traditions. Due public process, including a variety of land-use consultations, is a valuable part of our democratic system. Accepting the input from the public, abiding by the will of the people, while simultaneously seeking to accommodate minority opinions is not easy, but it is the expectation of good government. Sacrificing our democratic system in the name of efficiency is unacceptable – even if you truly believe your cause is just. The end does not justify the means. Some dignified restraint is needed.

Please demonstrate that you do care for our democracy, our environment, and accountability to the people of Ontario. Please remove Schedule 3 from Bill 257.
