It is time to extend the Greenbelt west into Brant County, Waterloo Region, Wellington County and perhaps even Oxford County. We must save what we can of the remaining forest cover and wetlands in these important areas. It is time to direct development to areas where there is limited natural areas remaining, areas that will be little impacted by growth. Areas to the northwest such as Perth and Huron Counties that have very limited natural attributes should be our places to grow our urban areas. The farmlands in these areas are just corn and soybean fields that supply feedlots for meat production. With the declining meat production that sees no sign of slowing, the loss of this farmland will not be missed near as much as the market gardens lands in other places of Ontario.
