As a 50 year resident of Uxbridge I have seen a lot of change . The township is full of pits and has been a major source of income for many people . To change the laws from extraction and then rehabilitation ,to infilling or industrial sights would be a major mistake . We have all seen what happens with infill sights ( which is a very lucrative business for the land owner ) . Monitoring and inspection of fill is never adequate ( eg. Greenbank ) . Once the fill is in and is bad what do you do , slap their hand and say bad boy . Hind sight just does not cut it ( old Stouffville dump on top of watershed ). The same is true for making it an industrial sight on top of a watershed ( especially heavy industry such as heavy equipment or asphalt ) . Look at how much ground contamination happened at the Uxbridge high school . Right now you are only looking at the one sight and thinking well what harm can one site do, but once one pit is converted to infill there will be a stampede for the others because it will become a billion dollar industry . As I mentioned the township is full of pits .
I am completely opposed to the changes applied for .
