The following sentences in your opening paragraph are completely disingenuous: "Prioritizing renewable generation is no longer appropriate. Going forward, Ontario will ensure value for ratepayers by allowing all resources to compete to meet system needs."
According to a report by the International Institute for Sustainable Development, Fossil Fuels have received over $700 million in subsidies from the government of Ontario in 2019, and have steadily been increasing since. Therefore, although "all resources" are competing, they are clearly not competing fairly with government spending favouring fossil fuels.
In the interest of open and fair business, either cut the subsidies to fossil fuels, or give renewable energy a level playing field.
As an Ontarian, I whole-heartedly disagree with the objectives of this proposal.
