I object to Miller’s…

I object to Miller’s applications. First, for years Miller has not only broken the rules by developing a contractor’s yard but have refused to comply with the Ministry’s request to remove it. More importantly, I believe it is critical that lands within the Oak Ridges Moraine be protected. The importation of 1 million cubic meters of fill endangers the water table. Also changing the land into an industrial site means that it will never be returned to its natural state which is the original agreement that underlies the Ministry’s permission for taking out the aggregates throughout the township. If it is changed for Miller, then other companies will request the same. Precedent will have been set. Finally, I can’t imagine that the Township of Uxbridge has the expertise, manpower or regulatory muscle to oversee and manage Miller’s land use. The Moraine is a natural resource important to our Township and needs to be respected and protected first and foremost by the Province.
