The proposed large (10,000 sq. ft.) building and large equipment storage yard for the Miller Boyington Pit #3 are completely out of character with current zoning and land use on the lands surrounding the subject property. One only has to look at the current unsightly and unauthorized use of the property as a storage yard to realize what the long-term appearance of the property would be if the current application is approved. The current unsightly appearance of the site would suggest Miller really has no regard for how the site appears to those passing by on Concession 7 or for the conditions of their license. The only solution to this situation would be to require Miller to remove the storage yard as part of the pit rehabilitation process.
