A review of the license under which the removal of material from the Miller Boyingtom Pit #3 is permitted indicates that a contractor’s yard was never authorized within the terms of the original license. Over the past couple of years the contractor’s yard on the site has become even more of an eyesore with the accumulation of more and more equipment and what would appear to be road maintenance material and supplies. A cursory look at this material would indicate they have nothing to do with the aggregate extraction process. The existence of these materials on the property would appear to be in contravention of both the site license and the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and Act. Why has MNRF not acted over the years to ensure that the use of this site conforms with the terms of the operator’s license?
