It is wonderful to see the support for carbon offset programs that go beyond the car and trade program. The City of Thunder Bay has several Low Impact Development (LID) pilot projects that would serve as green infrastructure retrofits and we would like to continue to promote their importance with the help of the province who could provide offset credits and give value to natural capital/ green infrastructure. Thunder Bay also highly values its urban forest as demonstrated with our Urban Forest Management Plan and feel that again, adding value and recognition to the importance of green infrastructure in the form of trees is an important step forward. We know that green infrastructure is critical to a healthy, sustainable and adaptable city as reflected in many of our goals and actions in our sustainability plan and adaptation strategy.
