I realize the listing of Black Ash as endangered would create many development planning issues. The species is under threat from the Emerald Ash Borer and action should be taken. I would also advise that the endangered status will increase the significance of many wetlands in Ontario which is a positive ecological outcome.

My advice to you is to gather as much information together regarding the implications for listing the Black Ash as endangered and proceed in protecting and managing sites - on an as need basis- where the species is confirmed and healthy. This will show a proactive protectionist and reasonable political approach until the full implications are determined.
