- expand settlement area boundaries
- provide funding from higher levels of government for servicing infrastructure improvements and expansions
- explore communal servicing options
- permit more severances without triggering plan of subdivision
- permit more severances of agricultural parcels
- rent regulation, STA regulation (e.g. provincial/federal ban of whole-home STAs, cap on rent increases between tenancies)
- build rent-geared-to-income housing
- raise the minimum wage to a living wage
- permit year-round tiny home villages with communal servicing
- regulate the financialization & speculation in housing market; there should be high taxes on multiple property ownership or other regulatory measures to ensure the wealthy are not hoarding housing (most investors are Canadian, not foreign)
- collect more property ownership data: who owns what
- ban REITs
- ban blind bidding in real estate
- halt immigration until housing levels stabilize
- stop punishing municipal staff (i.e. planners, building officials) under increasing development pressure for the housing crisis. We need more resources, not less (timeframes being shortened is not magically going to "solve" the housing crisis - this is a very small part of the equation)
