Although your government did not agree with the methods of Cap and Trade, it seemed to be working with regard to instilling a greater willingness on the part of Ontarians to look for more anti-pollution methods and choices. I, myself, was able to afford a plug-in hybrid car. If I were rich enough to have a servant, and that servant decided to stop doing something that, overall, was having some positive effects for me and those around me, I would expect that servant to have a more effective alternative...now...not after awhile. Likewise, as the government is supposed to be a servant of the people, it is extremely poor service to take away something of some benefit and make all Ontarians live without that benefit for an unspecified period while the government comes up with something else.
If you actually thought the 39% of Ontarians that voted for you, wanted you to do away with Cap and Trade without having a viable alternative, then there is something wrong with the hiring policy of Ontario. I strongly demand, as your employer, that you present the populace with that viable alternative before eliminating the policy that may not be as effective as you would like, but at least is providing some benefit while it exists.
Furthermore, the premier said a few weeks ago that eliminating Cap and Trade would reduce an average household electricity cost by $80 a year. $80 a year! Personally, I believe that is a reasonable investment for our future until you come up with something more effective. If you actually were my personal servant, I would likely have fired you by now. That is not being nasty. That is just being reasonable.
