I do not think the Rondeau Park leases should be extended to 2024.

The Park may have originally been set up with a dual purpose, visitor recreation and environmental protection, but the need for protection of the natural environment in Ontario generally and southern Ontario in particular is now the primary purpose of parks like Rondeau. These is no way cottage lease holders can provide the environmental stewardship that is needed in the park, especially in the highly sensitive dune ecosystem where they are located on the lake side. The park habitat would benefit from ending the leases and removing the cottages from these highly sensitive and ecologically rare areas.

The park is for the all Ontarians to enjoy a rare natural environment in Southern Ontario, not for a few private leaseholders.
