I feel strongly opposed to this. Toronto’s greenbelt is critical to keep not only for environmental reasons but for the mental and physical health of residents. There are numerous studies showing the benefits of walking and being active in nature. A walk or bike ride or nature lesson in the greenbelt are excellent affordable ways for families to enjoy time together and maintain their health.

Adding land to the green belt elsewhere won’t cut it because this spot is already a nature refuge and air pollution sink.

I would rather we focus the affordable housing discussion on fixing our zoning laws, placing requirements on investment condo buyers to rent out their apartments, and improving public transit to neighbouring suburbs / parts of the city.
