The greenbelt is a source of pride for Ontario. To pick away at it for the sake of rapid housing development is extremely disappointing. This proposal shows a huge lack of foresight for the future of our province, our environment, and our wellbeing. While expanding the greenbelt into new regions should of course be considered, this does nothing for the habitats and biodiversity that will be destroyed in other areas. It’s not something that can simply be replaced. Ontario needs housing development solutions that are better, smarter, and built for a future we all want to live in.
