I cannot emphasize how much I disagree with these amendments to the Greenbelt. The current provincial government promised that they would not build on Greenbelt lands, I voted based on that promise. Yet, these amendments are allowing developers to build on Greenbelt land. The propose lands being added to offset the lands removed are not an equal trade. The land being removed in an order of magnitude more valuable, both financially and environmentally, than the lands being added to offset. Immigration is not an excuse to justify these amendments, there is more than enough underused and existing vacant lands all over the GTA to support double or triple our current population. This is not a good deal for Ontarians and for the next generation.
