The protected lands should be left alone as they are. Why is this specific land targeted for housing? Housing and realestate can be done anywhere, these lands are in no way a requirement for any such projects.
No amount of "promises" will ever fix a destroyed ecology. And seeing how the current government back tracked on their promises, no more such promises should be entertained.
Not to mention these projects are all private and do not contribute directly to the general public/provincial/national cash flow.
Greenbelt.ca has transparent "audited" statements of annual reports showing clearly the 85% charitable ratio. Far more positive impact to the province and the nation than any private projects let alone those that "require" destroying protected eco systems with "promise" of replacing them later on somewhere else.
