I am a 23 year old Canadian born and raised in Belleville, Ontario. I have taken time out of my own life to research climate change and it's ever increasing damage to our planet. I have also researched the drastic effects that bulldozing through an entire ecosystem can have on the greater environment. I hope that you can take some time to do your own research after reading my comment.

We all know Ontario is beautiful, it is home to many amazing conservation areas, provincial parks, and other nature sites that allow us to disconnect from the stress of the world (which you have contributed a lot to, so thanks for that).

As Premier, and as the provincial government, your duty is to serve the province - NOT to simply cater to the GTA and steamroll over protections put in place to avoid exactly what you plan to do to the Greenbelt.

Housing first does. not. work. Your plan to build thousands of residential homes on protected green space does not magically fix the housing crisis, and only exacerbates other issues within our province that you have failed to address.

We cannot provide the residents of these prospective homes healthcare while the entire system collapses, while many Ontarian's struggle to get by with little to no support through social services that you've gouged.

Doug, simply put, you and your government have been a failure to this province on numerous occasions. Instead of listening to it's inhabitants, you seek to fill the pockets of your business buddies and break a promise you made. None of this is shocking, it's just a depressing reminder that you continue to dig this province into it's grave.

Even more depressing than that is that in spite of the millions of calls to not encroach on protected greenspace, you will do so anyways. It is beyond predictable. Your government is self-serving, greedy, and ignorant to the wishes of the public it swore to serve.
