This is outrageous. Ontario is a huge province and we've never had a space issue when it came to housing. The government should looking rezoning areas of the city, especially in the GTA, in order to provide more housing. At the end of the day, the majority of people want to live near close to the city centre anyway.
The greenbelt is one of the very few good things remaining in Ontario, and the government acting all willy nilly with this supposedly "protected" area sets a dangerous precedent for any environmental or historical reservations in the future.
Finally, the fact that they claim they are "adding" new areas to the greenbelt when those areas are already protected through other laws that feels like a slap in the face of the public and reaffirms the notion that the government thinks we're all idiots as they consistently green light projects that purely benefits their campaign donours.
