I fundamentally disagree with this proposal.

The Greenbelt Master Plan clearly outlines the following in its introductory section “ It contains many of Canada’s most ecologically and hydrologically significant natural environments and scenic landscapes, including the Oak Ridges Moraine and the Niagara Escarpment. These natural areas clean the air, provide drinking water, provide diverse flora and fauna habitats, including pollinators, and they provide opportunities for recreational activities that benefit public health and overall quality of life.”

During a time when we are grappling with urban heat islands, biodiversity catastrophes, global warming, etc, we should not be considering the removal of any lands from environmental protection.

The Housing Task Force has put forth a number of recommendations which can address housing shortages without compromising sensitive lands and increasing sprawl.

Reject this proposal.
