I am a Cottage owner. My family has been a cottage owner since 1934. I have seen the peak times in the Park with over 400 cottages, and I have never seen any actual facts, that the number of species has declined over that time because of cottage activity. In fact, I believe the species has survived because of the cottages and there source of habitat protection with the structures. In fact, the MNR has tried to duplicate some of this habitat structure by placing sheets of plywood throughout the park wooded area, If they do that, is it more natural than what cottagers are doing. I think not.
So - It is time to make them permanent. Do as what precious Ministers have said and agreed to - and Sell the lots to Chatham Kent and thus the cottage owner. That leaves over 99% still with Ontario Parks, as well as picking up more land in the deal with Chatham Kent giving up land at Clear Creek.
Admit it, cottages in the park for over 125 years, and it still has species at risk, that Are Not at Risk because of the cottages.
Keep the Cottages in Rondeau.
