I am saddened to see that…

I am saddened to see that the government would move to make changes to the greenbelt when Doug Ford explicitly said he would not. We need to look at intensifying development within urban areas, allowing triplexes, mid-rise development in mostly single home area, rather than destroying needed farm land and nature areas. We are not the only ones that live in this province, the animals and plants that call this place home also need somewhere to live and we will be destroying their habitats or removing needed farmland to feed the millions of people that live here. When we harm the environment we are only harming ourselves in the long term as we need natural areas like forests and wetlands to help mitigate against the effects of climate change we are already seeing. I hope these plans are changed to move to focusing on development within urban areas rather than developing areas of the greenbelt which should be protected.
