This is a horrible idea! Leave the greenbelt alone. The existing greenbelt areas were chosen after extensive research and were selected due to their sensitivity and ecological importance. Many of these lands are on watersheds and preserve ecological habitats for wildlife. Preserving these lands and then suddenly opening them up for greedy developers destroys the sanctity of protected areas and makes us all realize that “protected areas “ are not actually protected. They only have a temporary reprieve until greed ha its way. We need to really look at why our system continually needs to grow and expand and have an ever expanding population. This system is not sustainable. We can’t co ti us to grow like a plague, consuming all of the resources and lands around us. If we truly care about sustainability then our system must change from one of consumption to one of stabilization and restoration. We can have a healthy economy while being sustainable and restoring the environment. Talk to the experts who aren’t in the pocket of developers. Many people have made environmental stewardship and restoration and sustainability their life’s work. Let’s act based on their expertise. The housing crisis can be solved using orher methods on already developed lands
