The cancellation of cap and trade is a mistake, and the election campaign references by the PC's to it as a job killing carbon tax were false and misleading. Cap and trade is more effective in addressing climate change than carbon taxes . All economic studies confirm this. It makes polluters pay for their emissions and the revenue received was directed to Ontario institutions, and individuals in need, in order to make energy efficiency improvements.

Rejecting it will result in carbon tax for Ontario, to be imposed by the federal government.

Moving away from a cap and trade system, and thus a greener economy, will cost Ontario jobs and business investment. It is a short sighted knee jerk reaction to the climate change deniers now in government.
