Hello,

I have concerns about the re-zoning and planned building in the greenbelt.

We are sacrificing beautiful, precious, fertile land for 'builders grade' cookie cutter small housing an hour plus outside of Toronto.

This is not where the housing crisis is.

The housing crisis is closer to the cities. We need things like modular housing to help house our homeless population, co-ops with family sized units to allow young family's to have a start, and foreign buyers tax. We need these things close to resources and jobs in the city.

Affordable family units in the cities must be a priority. We have plenty of room to build if we build upwards. Condos should have to include reasonably affordable family sized units. This should be a mandate regardless if they are not the most profitable ways to build. There can still be profit in the construction of buildings with family sized units. Another option are co-ops. The city can help create co-ops which would create affordable and secure housing for those who cannot afford to buy, but would still value a sense of ownership and involvement with their building and their community - which would be most people if given the opportunity.

That aside, we need updated research on the greenbelt and it's environmental impact on this area. The current studies are based on decades old science.

Please focus on the cities where the real issues are and leave the greenbelt alone. There is so much we can do and need to do right here.

Thank you for your time.

In lieu of supporting documents, I would ask that the resource page from the greenbelt Alliance be viewed https://www.greenbeltalliance.ca/resources

Thank you.
