A solution must be found for the permanent occupany of the cottage lots, and a sale under Section 9(3) of the Provincial Parts and Conservation Reserves Act (2006) as was directed by the former Minister Jeff Yurek. This is the best way to move forward.
I have tried to attach a picture of the cottages currently owned by the MECP but it is not allowing me to. If this is what will happen to all the cottages once leases are not renewed, the Park will become a huge disgrace. The current cottages are currently just falling down, overgrown and have vehichles, boats and junk strewn all around them. These abandoned properties that are "going back to nature" have sheds full of gas cans and oils and paints, and bbq tanks and other hazards laying around. Currently, leases and cottagers take pride in the park and it's upkeep and practice good stewardship. Additionally, the fees generate revenue for the government. I will be sharing the MECP owned cottage pictures on social media to bring attention to what happens post cottage ownership.
Would it be possible to visit the Park and see first hand how things really are? This would give good context to the situation.
