This is a terrible idea for our province and is transparently in favour of Ford’s developer friends. Use land which is not fertile should be used, not rich Greenbelt land. Invest in high speed rail and develop in areas outside of the GTA. Take large homes and lands inside the city like those owned by the rich (like Ford) and turn those into high density housing instead of single homes that take up the space of a high density apartment block.

This is terrible for the environment and the idea of packing more people into an area which doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it is moronic. This is to allow Ford’s developer friends to make money off their investments and is not in the best interest of the vast majority of Ontarians. Add the proposed extra land to the existing Greenbelt and add density to the city in the rich single home neighbourhoods in Toronto by knocking down mansions and putting up apartments. If you live in the city, it should be in denser housing solutions, no matter your income. There is so much land in this province and this Toronto-centric government insists on pushing everyone to Toronto. High speed rail and other public transit solutions as well as improving internet reliability throughout the province would allow smaller rural communities to grow with remote work solutions. Grow our Greenbelt and stop funneling our environmental and financial wealth into the pockets of corporations and developers!
