This is a terrible idea. The green belt cannot be replaced and serves functions like stopping flooding and reducing global warming. This proposal is politically motivated and does not help Ontario or its citizens but instead land developers that just recently bought the land that “just happens to be” the land being released. The Ford government has taken big contributions from these groups and it looks like it is time for a payback. The Ontario ombudsman should be investigating this before any decisions are made.
