Passage of this bill will cost Ontario taxpayers $2.8B in compensation for worthless carbon credits and a further $2B annually thereafter in foregone revenue (check out the eco fiscal commission for fully informed comment). This will make the Liberal's gas plant cancellation bill seem like chump change by comparison. This, along with the needless legal fight with the feds over the their carbon tax will cost even more for the lawyers involved. At least under that plan Ontario taxpayers will receive a share of the carbon tax collected in Ontario from the federal Liberals; starting in the election year of 2019 no less.
