As someone in need of…

As someone in need of affordable housing, I strongly oppose developments into the Green Belt.

It has been repeatedly promised to the people of Ontario by the Ford government that the Green Belt will not be developed, that they are listening to the people and they understand we do not want the Green Belt developed, so this proposal is another example of the betrayal of our trust in our provincial government.

While we need more housing there are plenty of reports that I'm sure the government has access to that show this can be achieved with current municipal boundaries, or at the very least not expanding into protected land.

By allowing this there will be a precedent set that the government sees itself above the interests of the people and that they do not need to be held to environmental standards. In a time where it is widely accepted that adhering to environmental protections is the only way to protect future generations from the negative impacts of climate change this proposal very clearly shows that the government only cares about money for developers. Not the promises made to the people, not to the protection of the environment, not to viable living arrangements, and not to the children who are future citizens of Canada.

I am incredibly disappointed with your decisions and deeply hope this is reconsidered.
