In my opinion this is an appalling idea. We should be making all efforts to protect this piece of land, the wilderness that inhabits it and the natural beauty and health is possesses. This is not just a piece of land, it is a sanctuary for our wildlife and old growth and needs to be preserved. There are many other options that have not been exhausted. Our province has many vacant commercial buildings and office spaces that are being unused that could easily be repurposed for the housing initiative. In light of our environment awareness we should be making all attempts to reduce, reuse and recycle these types of buildings and spaces and maintain our protected land. We could also further the initiative to homeowners who have additional space such as a vacant basements or outbuildings that could be transitioned into additional housing if given a tax rebate or financial incentive by our province, this could also be extended for landowners in the area as well. There were multiple Covid isolation units that were built that could also be transformed into housing. We have other options to exhaust, keep Ontario beautiful, keep that land and its wilderness protected and natural!
