This proposal is a betrayal…

This proposal is a betrayal of the trust of the people of Ontario. Ontario voters believed Doug Ford when he said that he would protect the Greenbelt during his tenure as premier of Ontario. A land "swap" is not acceptable - interchanging pieces of land amongst the protected Greenbelt is not preserving the wetlands and sensitive areas from development. The only group that profits from this proposal are developers. If the Conservatives paid attention to their own policy advisors, they would see that building more single family suburban homes is not the way to solve the housing crisis. Not only that but this building plan simply sows the seeds for more problems in the future - when we have taken away all the farmland and sensitive ecological areas that feed and protect our future climate, we will have suburbs that rely on fuel burning cars that we can no longer support. This is not the future I want for Ontario. Please do not go forward with this proposal and develop any of the existing Greenbelt land.
