One issue is that these plots will simply get sold to the ultra wealthy who will develop the land as they please. Most people who are not part of that exclusive circle will struggle with that and fewer people will get to enjoy that land.

Whereas at the moment, a large part of the public gets to use that green belt space for hiking and biking, etc. As much as I dislike saying it, can't we be satisfied with just building more condos elsewhere? That will better be able to house the millions that are anticipated to move into the city rather than the rich few who can afford building houses there.
