We are extremely disappointed this government is walking back its election promise to not touch the green belt. The green belt is necessary for protecting our food and water as well as protecting our homes from flooding. The weather and food prices have already gotten worse over the years and will continue to do so if we don’t protect and grow our green area. Shifting the green belt around does not help Ontarians in the areas being affected. And affordable housing is needed most in city centers, not in the countryside. I doubt these houses will be affordable to those who need it most. It will be a waste and negatively impact everyone. Go after the empty condos and ridiculous rent and leave our rural communities be.
