I am against re-classifying any of the Greenbelt for housing or other development.
It would cost Ontario tax payers less, and preserve their natural heritage, to use land already inside urban areas that is already zoned for residential development. There is sufficient of such land available.
The Ontario Housing Commission says : "a shortage of land isn’t the cause of the problem.
Land is available, both inside the existing built-up areas and on undeveloped land outside greenbelts."
Affordable housing should be built inside existing urban boundaries, limiting sprawl.

Ontarians who need housing, need access to reasonably priced housing, within easy reach of work and necessities, on sites with easy access to exiting city services. Increased commutes, lack of amenities, the need to build in city servicing, and increased risk of flooding, will not meet the needs of Ontarians.
Ontario needs to retain critical agricultural land in order to feed our cities.
Legislation should limit sprawl and encourage development inside urban boundaries.
Bill 23 is not being given enough time for detailed analysis and informed discussion and movement on this plan should be slowed to allow for careful consideration.
