I'm shocked that the province wants to build housing on our greenbelt. We need a sustainable plan and this is not a sustainable plan. By permanently setting aside land for farming and natural woods and forests, the Greenbelt protects land from urban sprawl and ensures we have local food for generations to come. Once the land is gone it will never come back. I do not support this government for this and frankly feel let down on your promise to protect the greenbelt.
I understand that we need affordable housing but when I drive around GTA and see massive parking lots (often under utilized), 2 story buildings on main streets that are empty, I wonder why we aren't building up more and not out. Look to many Nordic cities where restrictions are in place to ensure there is not urban sprawl.
