I am in support of the continued existence of cottagers in Rondeau Park. Moreover, a long term
permanent solution to the continued presence of cottagers is the best option for not only the Park but also Chatham-Kent and the surrounding area. The influx of revenue and the net gain of protected
land due to the sale of cottage lots are a positive investment for all.
In 2017 this solution was orchestrated
by Minister Jeff Yurek under Section 9(3) of the Provincial Parks & Conservation Reserves
Act (2006). Why is this not going forward?

The Park was originally chartered for the purpose of cottaging and related activities. This is well
known and understood by the cottage community as well as the local population who benefit
from revenue generated from building maintinance, visitors and tourists. In addition, as recent as
the years 2010 & 2019 previous ERO 011-1300 & 019-0907 respectively, supported a long term
solution to the cottage existence in Rondeau.
