I strongly, wholly and emphatically disagree with your plan to scrap cap and trade. I don't believe your administration fully grasps the mechanics of cap and trade or the negative impact that cancelling it will have - not only on our environment but on the businesses that have already invested in it and on the health and well-being of our children and future generations. I don't believe that you should put a misguided version of short-term economics over long-term health, well-being and the sustainability of our planet.

Although the cancellation of cap and trade is touted as a benefit by your administration, it appears to me that this claim was made rashly during the election without proper research and analysis or consultation with the public. It most certainly seems like a step in the wrong direction by an administration lacking long-term vision. The government’s actions have made clear that it has no interest in serious climate-change strategy or working together to create solutions.

How can you propose to pay virtually no compensation to the companies that purchased $2.9-billion in emission allowances under the plan? How is that a benefit? Do you honestly think it won't impact the customer?

The government has shut down programs such as home-energy rebates and funding for school refurbishments. How is that a benefit?

I do not agree that an electoral process should be considered a sufficient means of public consultation on an issue this important and far-reaching. I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.

I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.

I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.

I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050 or sooner.

I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
