Premier Ford's 2018 election promise to not touch the protected Greenbelt is at risk of being broken. And for what? To build houses that will do virtually nothing to address the housing crisis the province faces. (All while lining the pockets of the developers who bought the now at-risk land for a premium, despite it being 'protected'. If that's not a head-scratcher, what is?) Even housing advocates disagree with this approach. The Greenbelt is an internationally celebrated and cherished achievement. It is the living manifestation of Ontarian's commitment to protecting green/wild/agricultural spaces. Please reverse course on this destructive proposal, and keep your word, Premier Ford.
