While I can appreciate that there is an urgent need for housing, this proposal seems too set on expanding land boundaries to the benefit of developers, and those land owners, and not enough on building affordable, sustainable housing in under developed areas within the already established urban boundaries.

Given that the Ford government did not a) campaign on this, and b) specifically said they would not touch the greenbelt, it is difficult to see how this is the most beneficial plan for everyone.

Communities need safe, secure, affordable, and attainable housing, and this bill's push to build housing as quickly as possible gives me concern that these houses may not be build with care or with the appropriate legislation.

Additionally, the lands of the greenbelt were set aside for a reason, and to so quickly jump to having to use those lands, without regional consultation and more public discussion of what constituents want feels disrespectful to the communities.

This bill feels as though it is to benefit solely developer, land owners, and the provincial government - under the guise of the need for housing (which we do need, but I don't believe this is the way to do it). Nothing about the More Homes Built Faster provides any sense that the homes will be what home owners need, what the community needs, and what will make sense for sustainability of our environment and this proposed change to the greenbelt feels like an attack by the province on our environment and communities.
