The Progressive Conservative approach to utilizing the Greenbelt is wrong.
It seems apparent that when Doug Ford promised not to develop the Greenbelt, it was always the PC intent to eventually allow developers access. Bill 23 was created to override and subvert existing laws and long time Conservation practices; Bill 23 was not created for the purpose of More Homes Faster.
It seems clear from the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force's own report that there is adequate space inside and outside of the greenbelt. So it was false to create Bill 23 claiming space was needed.
If the intent of the Progressive Conservatives was actually to build more homes faster, using existing land and services would not have required Bill 23. Why aren't you building more homes NOW if there is a need. You've wasted time dithering over a new Bill instead of proceeding with actual building. Building more homes inside of the Greenbelt reduces travel and transit times.
How does Bill 23 actually address the need for AFFORDABLE housing when these Greenbelt areas are undeveloped (no services) and farther away from existing communities, especially when there are areas suitable within communities and existing services?
