The backtracking of a promise not to touch the greenbelt originally given by the ontario government aside, the greenbelt is an integral part of the ecosystem of the province, and should not be infringed upon in any way.
The housing issues we face will not be aided by creating further sprawl within the greenbelt. We should be looking at other alternative such as densification of already developed lands before we start carving up protected green spaces, wetlands, and other natural habitats that help keep the province alive.
