This to me feels like Doug Ford trying to make good on deals he made with Developers after they made financial contributions to his campaign/party. Even if the public doesn't support this action he will push it through with the notwithstanding clause because he has his own agenda and seems to do whatever he likes. Below are some questions I have
Has there been an environmental impact survey for the lands proposed to be removed? Will development in these lands impact other protected areas (ie downstream)?
If the Paris Galt Moraine would be an excellent addition to the green belt, why not add it without removing any land?
What good is having protected greenbelt land when you can just change the boundaries?
Are there more environmentally conscious approaches to residential development in light of the climate crisis?
Is developing new lands really the best answer to the current housing problem? Will this action have a positive impact on people experiencing homelessness?
Municipalities have already voted on what to do with greenbelt land, why is the provincial government going directly against what the people have already voted on?
What's the plan to replace all the agricultural land that will be lost by development? I feel it's irresponsible to have to ship in more of what we could be producing locally to feed the people that will be living on previous agricultural land.
This plan only builds 50,000 homes. Please elaborate on how the destruction of the land justifies building only 3% of what the province needs (50,000/1,500,000).
It has been cited that a land shortage isn't contributing to the housing crisis in Ontario, so how does this help solve the problem?
