The development of Greenbelt lands for housing is reprehensible. When the entire planet is facing the effects of the climate crisis in real time, our government should be looking for means of expanding protected natural green spaces and animal habitat vs juggling them around to suit the needs and desires of developers. To propose these changes in the name of allowing for the development of more affordable housing is a farce. If the government truly wished to develop housing for those in our society at risk, they would look at the development of lands in the city, close to amenities and services, where added cars would not be needed. There are many spaces across the GTA where density could be easily increased in order to provide true housing solutions for those among us at risk.
