Ontario’s Greenbelt is…

Ontario’s Greenbelt is critical for, among other things:
1. Environmental sustainability for our future generations, including protecting valuable plant and animal species;
2. Helping to curb climate-change now (thereby reducing the significant financial burden and physical dangers of climate-related events in the GTHA and Ontario); and
3. Promoting local agriculture, such that we have more food-security and are less dependent on foreign imports for our province’s food needs.

Food security, safety, and environmental sustainability are all critical issues and should be prioritized above exploitation of our lands (particularly since other reasonable alternatives have been proposed).

The government is in power with a duty of stewardship, to care for and lead the people of Ontario towards a better future. Do not cause permanent damage to the people (and environment) of Ontario by eating into these protected lands.
