This is absolutely the wrong way to go about increasing affordable housing in Ontario. The proposal will destroy important habitat, decrease greenspace in urban areas that is important for heat reduction in our warming climate, decrease the amount land locally available for food production which increases food costs, and will serve only to put more cars on the road as people are forced to commute from farther outside the core. This proposal does nothing to provide affordable housing to low income families and is completely incompatible with the urgent need to address the climate crisis. This proposal serves the greed of developers at the expense of the people of Ontario.
